How Does It Feel to Be a Mom?
Almost a
year after getting married, my husband and I were blessed with a little one.
Funny thing is, we weren’t even planning to have kids at that time. Whenever
our family asked, we would just say, "InshaAllah… when the time is
right." Sometimes, we’d even say that we had no plans in the near
future.
But, life
had other plans. We were given this priceless gift—maybe as an answer to our
parents’ prayers, wishing for their first grandchild. When we found out I was
pregnant, everyone was overjoyed. Well… everyone except me. At first.
I was
scared. Honestly, I wasn’t prepared for anything. Financially? Nope. Mentally?
Not at all. You could say this pregnancy totally caught us off guard. Haha…

On top of that, my husband and I were just starting to build our careers, so we were anxious about what the future would hold. But after taking time to reflect and support each other, we slowly learned to embrace this new reality.

Throughout
my pregnancy, I never felt alone. Compared to many women out there, I know I’m
lucky. Why? Because my husband and his family were incredibly supportive.
My husband
was always there, ready to help at every stage. My mother-in-law? She treated
me just like her own daughter—always showering me with love, giving me
thoughtful gifts, and checking in on how I was doing.
So, if you
ask me how it feels to be a mom? At first, I wasn’t ready. Now, I am.
Being a mom
is not easy. There’s so much to learn—from choosing nutritious food, taking
vitamins regularly, and understanding what’s good and bad for pregnant women,
to avoiding risky things like eating too much sugar or acidic food.
Then comes
the next stage—learning how to take care of a newborn, properly storing breast
milk, preparing for labor, and even planning future baby meals (MPASI).
Through all
of this, I realized that being a parent means never stopping learning. If
anyone ever told you that high school or college is the last stage of
education, they couldn’t be more wrong. As long as we’re alive, we never stop
learning.
We learn to
be good partners.
We learn to
be good parents.
We learn to
be better versions of ourselves.
We learn
about life itself.
Because
learning is what keeps us growing and thriving in this world. ❤️
